Wireless sync and iphoto transfer

I just cannot find any info on how to sync my iphone to my imac wirelessly. I need to transfer photos to iPhoto and I need to do a backup of the iphone. I have a wireless charging pad installed on the back of the iphone and the lightning connector is not available for syncing. I would have to remove the entire protective iphone case every time I want to backup or transfer photos with the lightning cable. How do I sync wirelessly? Thanks for any help.

Hi Peter,

Am I missing something?

Whenever I can't be bothered to connect up to the cable to transfer photos, I use an app called PhotoSync. Installed on the iPhone and on the computer when both are opened you can transfer or receive from either devices. You just need to be on the same wifi. Which in this day and age, I think goes without saying.

I don't understand why the app hasn't been mentioned before, hence my question at the beginning; "Am I missing something".

I hope that helps.

In order to sync wirelessly, you have to sync with the cable and then select Sync This iPhone Over WiFi option in the summary screen of iTunes while the phone is connected. So that means that you have to set up WiFi syncing before you can use it.

Furthermore, you cannot transfer the photos into iPhoto without using the cable. You can also use iCloud Photo Library but that comes with a different set of issues if you don't know what you are doing.

There are WiFi apps that allow you to transfer photos from the phone to the Mac. I use this one. There are others in the App Store.
