Different countries for Apple Pay and App store

Can I use a payment card issued in a different country (i.e. Russia), than where I have app store / iTunes attached to for Apple Pay (i.e. Denmark)?

iPhone 7, iOS 10.3.2

Hi Kasper!

Thanks for reaching out via the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand you would like to know if you can use a credit card issued from one country in the iTunes Store of another. I'd be happy to provide you with some information.

To make purchases in the iTunes Store, you must be in the country your iTunes Store is set to, and have a credit/debit card issued form a financial institution within the same country as your iTunes Store location. Your card must also have a billing address within the same country, as described below from the Change your iTunes Store country or region :

What you need know before you change your country or region

When you change your iTunes Store country or region:

  • Update your billing address. When you change your billing address, the primary address for your Apple IDand your other Apple services, such as the App Store and iCloud, automatically updates.
  • You might need to update your payment method. For example, only German credit cards can be used to buy content from the German iTunes Store and App Store.
  • Your Purchased section no longer shows items that you purchased from the store in the previous country or region.
  • You won’t see the items from your iCloud Music Library that you matched, uploaded, or added from the store in the previous country or region.

When you make a purchase in the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store, the country or region in your iTunes Store account information must match the country or region listed on your Apple ID account page.

This means that in order for you to utilize the Denmark iTunes Store, you must be located in Denmark, have a credit or debit card issued from a financial institution in Denmark, with a Denmark billing address tied to it. You will be unable to utilize a Russian-issued card within the Denmark store. For more information on accepted payment methods for the iTunes Store, see the following articles:
