where do I retrieve my scanned document on my mac? scanned to preview, then imported from Cannon MX922, then lost - I tried scanning to my desk top as a pdf and it never showed up.

Where you save scanned documents is one of the responsibilities of the scanner driver that is specific to the model scanner that you have. Typically, when preparing to scan a document, you would be able to control the scanner features and where the scan will be sent to on your iMac.

See if it saved to your Documents folder.
If not, do a Spotlight search for it.
