Which Macbook Pro Should I Get For Music Production With Logic Pro X?

Hello,

I have been looking into getting a new macbook pro and want one good for music production. With that said, I don't think I want the newer model with the USB-C because I don't find it worth it unless convinced otherwise but I don't like the fact that it has to charge by way of usb. With that said I particularly been looking into the early 2015 macbook pro with Retina display.

I also am considering getting Logic Pro X but have come to the understanding that 32 bit plugins will not work with it. Thus also leaving me in a position to consider Ableton Live as a potential option as well.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Mrr

I use a mac Book Pro 15' retina, 2015. 2.8, 16 gbRAM, i7 quad core, with Logic 10.3.1. no problems whatsoever, I am on OSX El Capitan 10.11.3.

I also have Logic 10.3.1 on my Macbook air 13 inch 2015 17 dual core 8gb RAM, with El Capitan 10.11.3, also runs Logic fine.

Hope that helps a bit! one point however, you are best off with FLASH storage for music production, I have this on both my computers.

Good luck.

With all due respect what plugin developer worth their salt doesn't have a 64 bit version? Because we are very deep in the 64 bit development with 32 bit no longer in site. They refuse to update? Which plugins? No similar type that you can get?

Also Abelton is 64 bit but Utilizes jBridgeM to be able to use 32 bit plugins. Which is a terrible freaking idea. If you get a crash trying to bug hunt where/how to reproduce is a nightmare. Only use 64 bit plugins in a 64 bit app. Save yourself the headache.
