How do I stop a device from connecting to my iPhone 6S hotspot?

I have a Lenovo PC on Windows 7Pro that I used to use to connect to my hotspot. It's no longer my computer, but it's often still used in the same area where I am using my hotspot. I'd like to stop this PC from being able to connect to my hotspot. Is there a way to prevent the PC from connecting to my iPhone 6S or can I change my hotspot password?

Hello,

Since your iPhone and iPad have the same Apple ID, you don't need to enter the password on your iPad to connect to the Hotspot. This is a feature called Instant Hotspot, which is apart of Continuity.

Is the iPad automatically connecting to your Personal Hotspot or is your son manually connecting via the Wi-Fi settings?

Hi Gus,

I have an iPhone 6 that shares an Apple ID with my iPad. My son has accidentally clocked up a $400 data charge due to me not being able to stop access to the hotspot on the phone. I have tried changing hotspot password on the phone and tried telling the iPad to forget the connection to no avail. The only thing that stops the iPad overriding the phone settings is to turn mobile data off on the phone. This is only a temporary fix of course. How do I future safeguard my phone phone data and wallet?

Cheers

Nigel
