Sparkles Orbit Text

Hello, like the user name says I am not very bright. Basically, in Final Cut Pro X, I am trying to create a very simple thing to play on a TV at a wedding. The couples name, which I did, with sparkles or pixie dust or stars spinning around the text outlining it. I bought a plug in that has great sparkles but it will not orbit the text. Just do a "comet with a tail" sort of effect. $30 well spent 😟.

Anyway I am sure it is easy for regular users, and I searched all over the net for instructional videos but I guess I am not using the right words to search.

Thanks in advanced!

no ....?

there's no out-of-the-box effect in FCPX, so, I'd say, your only other option (aside purchasing somewhere some thing) is to build one in Motion.

Motion comes with some canned 'Magic Wand' effect, add a motion path:

that board software tricked me again! There was no fox' reply when I answered!! grrr....

Nice fireflies, btw, fox 😉

Thanks for your advice!! Very helpful.

what always impresses me:

even on my underpowered system (2012 MacMini) such a 'complex' animation with all its particles allows to adjust 'live' the parameters - which makes it dropdeadeasy to find 'your' design…

Any advice to accomplish 'behind/in front' of Text?

Although the circle I used as path is an 'orbit' around the text in 3D, the sparks z-position is defined by where the group layer is ('under'=behind or 'over'=in front the text.group) … 😟

I used the same thing you did 😉 Magic Wand + Motion Path (plus fiddled around with some parameters to change up the MW a little.)

If you link a Rectangle shape to the size of the Text bounding box with Link > Object Attributes and Align To the Text object, you can create a Motion Path that always follows the location of the text (use the loop parameter to make multiple passes; use Rectangle > Roundness to make the path more oval and the Link > X Offset/YOffset parameters to give a little more space between the text and sparkles). I also recommend turning off the Gravity behavior and boosting the Random Motion Amount ("pixie dust" should float 😀).
