Solution to getting iPhone contacts in google maps

After much help from Bob, apple support we learned that if your privacy settings don't include Google Maps in Contacts, you can go to the google maps app and tell it to notify a contact of your location and it will ask you to make your phone contacts available and it then puts Google Maps in your privacy settings as an app to use with your contacts.
