How do I change what side the controls are on in CarPlay?

I am driving a Vauxhall (Opel) Astra K with CarPlay. The home button and recent apps icons are on the left hand side of the display, which is inconvenient as it takes an extra second or two of eyes off the road to focus on where I'm tapping. I assume it is fairly simple to swap the sides so that the controls are closer to the steering wheel and therefore within reach. However, I can't find any instructions on doing so, anyone know how to?

I am running the latest iOS on iPhone 6.
