announce caller stopped working after latest update

after updating today the caller announcement stopped working. it used to say "call from ________" several times. now after the update it just says the name/number once without the "call from" dialog and it doesn't announce it several times like before, just once. i checked my wifes iphone 7 and hers still works after the update.

any ideas? thx!

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.3.2

Hello azolivas,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to have the Announce Calls feature work when someone calls your iPhone. To help resolve this, go to Settings > Phone > Announce Calls and temporarily turn this off. Then restart your iPhone as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly. iOS clears cached data and does other system optimizations when you turn your device off and on. Once your iPhone is back on, turn the Announce Calls feature back on and test your issue.

Thanks for replying, azolivas, and that additional info, it really helps! At this point, we would like you to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on

Use the “Update” option and not “Restore” and these steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further. Have a great day and thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
