Will a Student Visa count as a valid student ID if I want to purchase a MacBook Pro on a student discount?

I am an international student and am going to join a university in Texas right around Fall '17. I would like to purchase a MacBook Pro for myself on a student discount as soon as I reach my city, but I will only have a student visa and a passport as a student ID. Will that suffice? Or is it a compulsion to have a college ID?

I think you are valid as a student and you can purchase MacBook Pro at student discount.

Hi,

Gather as much paperwork proving your student status as you have to bring with you to make sure you can get the discount; also make sure you have the name and address of the school with you.
