Cutting audio along portion longer than the video part

Hi

Used to be, working in a project, if a clip's audio was longer than the video portion, I could cut anywhere along that extended audio. Now, I can't do that. I have to cut where there's video too. Does something need to be turned on or off?

If you blade just the audio clip, you are creating a new audio only clip that is completely separate from the original video; the bladed audio will become a connected clip to whatever is in the primary storyline at the cut point - as evidenced in your screenshot above.

I have to ask: why do you want to do that and create an "orphan" clip? Are you applying an effect just to that part?
