Wifi icon has disappeared

User uploaded file

For half a year my wifi icon has disappeared and I cannot connect to the internet without an USB.
I have send my MacBook Pro to reparation at Apple in Denmark, but they could not help me!

So i hope that you guys can help me, since it gives me a lot of problems, because the USB only works at my own house and not anywhere else.

as you can see at the picture my wifi icon is gone!

Click the + at the bottom left of the list.

Do you see the option to add a 'Wi-Fi' interface like in this image?

If so click 'Create' & then apply it. You should then have the option to enable the Wi-Fi menu.

If it does not appear please take a look at a System Information report…

  • Apple Menu > hold down the option down (a.k.a. 'alt' key) and select 'System information…'
  • In the report that opens Select 'Wi-Fi' under the 'Network' section

Please post an image of that information

I suspect we can't do much more than Apple Denmark as they really should have been able to test it properly did they see the device? Did they give you any feedback at all?

I think you have an issue that means the Wi-Fi card has stopped working.

Do you have a built in Apple Wi-Fi card or was Wi-Fi provided by a separate USB device?

You can try booting into recovery mode…

About macOS Recovery - Apple Support

That uses a different OS, so it may allow Wi-Fi to work if the issue is because of software.

Try the 'Get help online' option - that should cause a prompt to connect to Wi-Fi if it is not connected.

Be sure to remove all other network connections before you begin that test.

The idea is just to see if Wi-Fi works in recovery mode.

You can also try diagnostics / Apple hardware test to see if it lists errors but really Apple should be able to fix it or provide a solution. Sorry that they don't seem to be able to help.

Apple in Denmark has never been to much help, i've had a lot of problems with this MacBook ever since i got it, and they never gave it an bigger effort to make it work. Last time i payed $150 to get help, as it is their payment, but got the MacBook back with no results. I will try to "Get help online" and if it does not work, i'll bring my MacBook to USA next time i visit. In USA they've always helped me.

Thank you for all of your time, and have a nice day :-)
