I want to add folders to the iCloud Backup on my Mac...

iCloud does a great job of backing up my stuff -- but only in folders that it specifies, like Documents, Pictures, etc.

I want to add additional folders to my iCloud backup -- specifically, I want to add something like /users/myusername/mynewfolder. In other words, NOT a new folder I create under the Documents folder, which would be backed up automatically, but a folder that's not within another folder that's already backed up.

How do I do that?

I'm not storing stuff on the iCloud drive -- it's automatically backing up the stuff that's stored on my Mac's Desktop and Documents folders. It also stores backups from my iPhone and iPad, too.

I want it to back up things other than just the Desktop and/or Documents folders on my Mac. Specifically something like /Users/myusername/mynewfolder. I don't want to have to drag-and-drop files from that folder to some folder I've created on iCloud Drive. I want it to automatically copy them over, like it does with Desktop and Documents.

Every other backup service has the ability to back up more than just its default folders -- that's what I want to set up iCloud to do.

If you select iCloud Drive in the sidebar of a Finder Window, you can create any new folders you like on iCloud Drive and ten store your documents there.

But why are you calling iCloud Drive a backup? If you store files in iCloud, iCloud will be the working storage of all files and documents you are storing there, mirrored on all synced devices.

You will need to make a backup of all documents and data you are storing in iCloud, if you want to be able to recover from user errors when working with iCloud.
