How to copy downloaded movies into my iPad

Hello All,

How can we copy a downloaded movie from my Mac Book to iPad?

I have a movie downloaded in my Mac Book pro laptop. Now i connect my iPad Pro to my Mac Book.

I tried to drag that movie into my iTunes movies library. - It doesn't get copied. - This is problem-1.

I tried to go to the menu bar and movies->convert->ipad or iphone compatible, options, but they were grayed out. -This is problem-2.

Hence i don't see any option or a mean to copy our custom videos just like music into our iphone or iPad.

So Apple restricts to go get movies copied into ipad from the laptops and only allows to download the movies that you purchase from itunes Store?

Please help me to resolve this problem.

So this is what i came to know.

I can only upload .mp4 file type videos.

So, for me to convert this, i need to follow this step and thus i am able to copy the video into my iPad.

So to convert an MKV file to MP4:

  1. Run "VLC media player".
  2. From main menu select "Media" > "Convert / Save...".
  3. On "File" tab, click "Add..." button.
  4. Choose you MKV file. ...
  5. Click "Convert/Save" button.
  6. Select Profile: "Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)".
  7. Click on the icon button that has hint: "Edit selected profile".

No, I have a number of non-iTunes films and videos that are in a compatible in my Mac's iTunes library, and I can copy them to my iPad. Are your videos in a format that's compatible with iTunes ?

movies->convert->ipad or iphone compatible

The File > Convert menu option is for converting selected videos that are in your iTunes library into an iPad / iPhone compatible format, it's not for converting videos that it doesn't know about.
