My wife also lost all of her voice mail when she switched from Sprint to T-Mobile. However, all of my voice mail and custom greeting was transferred from Sprint to Google's Project FI cellular network. I spoke to Project FI today. I was informed my voice mails etc were automatically saved to my gmail account constantly. As a result after switching to Google's Project FI cellular service and logging in with my gmail account all of my voice mail etc was transferred to my new Google Pixel XL phone. The Google technical rep also said voice mail back up is a standard function of gmail and Android.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "restore" in this instance. If you have the old device, then unless you erased it, the voicemails should still be there. Then you can follow the instructions in the link provided to you by panchososa694 to save them.
Best of luck,

When I changed providers I backed up my phone to my mac. When I restored on the new one it did not transfer the vm. Since someone stated it was a carrier issue, I decided to plug my verizon iPhone back into my mac and restore it (as you do whenever you get a new phone). With doing this it placed the vm's back onto the verizon phone and I was able to email them to my phone and then I saved them on my current device with AT&T. Thank you for the help guys, knowing it was a provider issue helped me, and having the old phone definitely helped me get them. I knew they were saved in my iTunes, but had no way to access them. The vm's btw were my grandmother crying to me and since she died, they are priceless to me. I am very thankful I have them back and they are saved EVERYWHERE! TY!!
Voicemail is a carrier function, not an iOS function. So, if you have changed carriers, then you won't have the voicemails from the old carrier.
Best of luck,

Well, that isn't going to help much if the OP doesn't have the messages to save....

The op's response to your first comment mentioned having the original phone. So what's your point?
My point was that you provided a link to save messages but didn't address how to get them back to start with. You might also notice that I referenced your link in my post. No need to get snarky.

That is most excellent Meldusa! Glad to hear you were able to recover them since they really were irreplaceable! 🙂
Cheers,

switched providers and on restore voicemails were not transferred
