New Mac OS 10.12.5 update

It's kind of hard to explain, but what is happening is ever since I updated my MacBook Pro to the latest update (about an hour ago) it has been super glitchy, and it won't let me select the windows I have open, for example Safari. So usually when you click on the window the bar is white, but right now it's gray just like if you were on another application. I also can't type, Like in Safari I tried to type this question and it wouldn't let me type. I have tried to restart my computer twice. Any suggestions?

Please try the following two suggestions:

  1. Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support.
    • Compare how your Mac works in Safe Mode to how it has been.
    • Then, restart normally. If the same problem returns, please read the section If an issue doesn't happen in safe mode for Apple's recommended actions.
  2. How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.
    • When you are finished troubleshooting, you can remove the temporary User Account by following these instructions: macOS Sierra: Delete a user or group.
    • Before removing it, confirm you don't need any of the files you might have created in that Account

I suggest you use the program created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. It will provide a snapshot of your system which we can analyze to possibly determine the cause of your problem. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
