One more time......does your computer start in Safe Mode? Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
Do you have a backup? (I thinnk I already know the answer)
Do you have a retail Snow Leopard disc? Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple
Idk what os it was running and what do I do please send me a link to directions on how to fix when I go into the drives from bootup a drive called _-_,.~ weird name like that and then I tried to install a OS X Lion and I pops up to Install from drives but nothing the apple logo gets stuck and then turns blue idk to do please help me
Yeah I'm on the 10.6 OS X area what should I do I sorda fixed it it's not blue no more now it goes to the gray screen before the introduction happen nothing shows besides a gray screen and the mouse pointer pls help anyone
Did you follow the steps in the support article? Does your iMac start in safe mode? What version of OS X were you running before this problem?

That depends on what version you were running when your problems started. Versions up to and including 10.6 are installed from disc, versions 10.7 and beyond are installed via the internet.
So basically I have to buy in that OS X 10.6 snow leopard disk
