Duplicate files

... in the menu option

"View > Show Duplicates. " is missing ???

Would you mind posting a screenshot of iTunes with the View menu selected so we can see if we notice any clues as to the cause of your problem.

hmmmm......This is puzzling. I don't know how to get it back, but if you are willing to spend a little bit of effort, you could simply sort by name, and then see which ones are repeated and delete one of the copies.

I should have remembered that just over a couple of weeks ago we had a similar situation discussed on these boards.

I dont have any of those programs installed on my PC ...

It doesn't have to be one of the specific plug-ins mentioned in that thread.

Are you using any plug-ins with iTunes?
