Please help - brand new MacBook Pro Retina Sierra with external drive problems and now -
when I try save a file onto external drive (after reformatting) it says "0 bytes of ... - Estimating time remaining" and it is stuck there. Especially files just under and over a GB. Does anyone know how to fix that? Thanks!
I had to stop icloud synch and delete what was there (that is for documents only and auto saves) and then reformat my discs and start all over again. I has been fine since then. Hope this helps. Not a fun process.

How exactly did you solve this issue? I am having the same problem and I had a hunch it had something to do with iCloud. Can you please explain to me what I need to do? Thanks.

Thanks so much for responding. SOLVED.
In case someone else has this problem: my documents are all uploading onto icloud (with all my trying to save what is on files it is redoing everything). When I deleted everything (ideally you have better wifi than African and do not have to do this) it all worked again.
It has address one of my three challenges with this new macbook pro.
Please help! Just to add that this started with some of my external hard drives becoming read only.
What is the format of the external drives?
