booklet printing

I'm trying to figure out how to print a multiple page booklet in either Pages or MS Word for Mac (2017) in Sierra. I've done some searching online and I'm quite surprised that so far the answer seems to be that Macs are incapable of printing booklets right from the Word processor. I'm really surprised at this in 2017 with all of the publishing going on on Macs. I really need this function for my weekly routine. Can anyone help? I hope a new update of Sierra can solve this problem instead of resorting to importing to another format or printing a master and then using Scotch tape and a scissors. I need to print in landscape without a bunch of extra margin, etc.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.5), null

Macs are perfectly capable of printing booklets, but they're not usually done from a word processor. They're more frequently done from a professional page layout program like Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress. Part of the reason is that if you want to print a booklet of more than a few pages, you have to start accounting for things like signatures, imposition, bleeds, binding, and creep. That can get complicated, so the feature is not often included in basic software like Pages or Word.

I am not much of a Pages user so there may be a way I don't know about, but here's what the feature looks like in InDesign just to give you an idea of what's involved:

Also, here's a similar Apple Discussions thread in case it gives you better ideas:

How to get booklet printing?

It's not a limitation of the Mac, it's the software you're using. I've printed booklets for years, usually using PDFs created in Pages & then imposed into a booklet using first CocoaBooklet &, lately, CreateBooklet or BookletCreator. A number of desktop publishing applications have the ability built into the app. BeLight Software makes Swift Publisher & PrintWorks that both probably do it. There are others you could find with a search of the Mac App Store or MacUpdate.com.

How do you leap to such wrong conclusions?

Macs were responsible for the Desktop Publishing revolution. Of course they can print booklets or anything you want. All you need is the right software.

We are however uncertain of exactly what it is you want. Facing Pages, or Spreads (left and right Pages on one sheet), or Imposed Pages where the pages are printed in multiples on individual sheets that are folded to present them in a multipage book.
