siri not working on car

New iPhone 6: Siri works fine but NOT in my car; it doesn't 'hear' my voice - why?

Is your car connected to your iPhone using Bluetooth? In other words, if you were to make an iPhone telephone call, would you use the car's microphone, or speak directly into the iPhone? Use the same method for Siri that you do for an iPhone telephone call.

Also, hopefully you are not relying on "Hey Siri" to awaken Siri, as that requires your iPhone to be plugged in using an iPhone 6.

That's helpful thanks. I have been trying to use it with the iPhone 6 (and likewise with my old 5s) plugged in to charge and have been pressing the Home button on each attempt without success.

Not quite clear how I activate Siri in this configuration if above method is not iaw what you recommend.

Have just discovered the problem!!

Discovered by chance that, when plugged in to my car's usb socket and I press/hold the Home button, on the lower right of Siri screen there appears a small icon which enables one to select the voice source (phone or car speaker mic).

The method you describe should work. Be certain Settings > Siri > Siri = "On", and Settings > Siri > Access When Locked = "on".
