Apple Watch Charger

I just bought an Apple Watch ser 1 which comes without a wall charger. In all support documents and the online Apple store it says the charger should be 5W (Watts) which does not make sense. I bought an Apple Charger that says 5W on the box but the user manual included says 5v (Volt) 1A which does not correspond to 5W. As far as I understand not even an iPad charger delivers 5W. My question is if Apple has mixed up Watts with Volt and if I can used the newly bought charger without damaging the watch.

Thanks

Apple Watch, iOS 10.3.1

Hi

Apple Watch can be charged using an Apple USB Power Adapter for iPhone (5W) or iPad (12W).

For confirmation, see under Compatibility for each adapter:

iPad: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD836LL/A/apple-12w-usb-power-adapter?fnode=8 3

Note that Amps x Volts = Watts:
