Data transfer from newer iphone to older one

Hi all! I would like to know if it's possible to transfer data from a newer iphone model to an older one, through iTunes (specifically from iphone 4s to iphone 4).

Well, I first connected my iphone 4s to iTunes, did a backup of everything (to "This computer"), disconnected it, and afterwards connected an iphone 4 (again to iTunes) and did a "Restore Backup", which curiously lasted only a few seconds. When I checked the iphone 4 there were no data transferred at all from the 4s. So I wonder if iTunes is unable to Restore Backup from a newer model to an older one.

Yes that should be fine. As long as the iPhone 4 has the same or newer iOS version.

For example the restore won't work if the iPhone 4s is on iOS 9 and the iPhone 4 is on iOS 7.

Is there any type of notifications? Errors?

That IS the case (unfortunately): the iphone 4 has an older version than the iphone 4s...

I guess I'll have to resort to some other app like Wondershare Mobile Trans or something like that.

Okay, I'm glad to help. I wouldn't recommend using any third party programs, as they may be malicious.
