Profile only exists for those iPhones that are company- or institution-owned. Profiles are used to set up deployment policies for iPhones in a corporate - or institution-environment.

If you own your iPhone individually, there would not be any profile.

Right. The Profile menu item only appears when a profile is installed. If it's not there, you have no profile.
