Uninstalling Firefox

I prefer a manual method via Terminal, matching in this case to the keywords "Mozilla", "mozilla", "Firefox", "firefox" and then removing with rm or sudo rm commands. However I saw these lines supposedly pointing to some hidden corners of my system (Python framework?!) Firefox installs its components to. Am I correct? Are these parts of Firefox installation package? Some of them contained the name "Netscape" so I removed them since they haven't come with mac OSX have they?

Please look at the screenshot below to help me make sure these are Firefox too.

Terminal also revealed some items with "_Mozilla", "Mozilla" and "_mozilla", "mozilla" names lurking around in

/usr/share/file/magic/mozilla and /usr/share/zsh/4.3.11/functions/_mozilla. Can I delete them as well?

All should have been left alone. You should not be removing anything manually from the System Folder. You may or may not (probably not) suffer any effects from this. A reinstall over the existing OS with a full installer will fix it if you do.

You were right. I did suffer when Safari's Reading List start misbehaving (graphic disorder) so I suspected my latter actions to remove this "mozilla" thingamajig. Was forced to reinstall (8th in two years) the system. It's interesting (and very odd) how trails of Netscape and Mozilla were deeply integrated in mac OS X.

You're right John. That could produce a wide variety of results. Should have made it clear to search for an uninstaller made by the same company as the application, or manuel instructions from the company's website on how to completely remove an application.. Not all products provide instructions on how to remove their application, and few tell you how to completely remove their application and all files associated with it.

No 3rd party uninstaller or cleaner programs.

So true John. I have found myself the victim so many times on clicking on something I thought was the correct link only to find my cursor on another link to install McKeeper or some other garbage, or at the provide password to install. And I try to pay attention to these things and still get caught by the disguises. One must pay attention to everything today.
