How do you delete smart albums from photos

Why do you think the ctrl-click method has been removed? it is still there. Select the album in the sidebar and right-click or ctrl-click. You will see a contextual menu with a command to delete the smart album, but only smart albums you created yourself, not the predefined albums.

Sure as posted and confirmed the the OP - did you read the thread?

right click (control Click) on the smart album and select delete smart album - same for regular albums and for folders.

There is no way to hide the top predefined albums selectively.

But in High Sierra the predefined smart albums are split into two groups: Library and "Media Types".

You can hide the Library section completely by clicking the hidden "Hide" button, and you can collapse the "Media Types" section by clicking the disclosure triangle:

After collapsing the sections, only "My Albums" will show.

Aah. Hoped to use it for the predefined ones as well. You don't happen to know any way of deleting/hiding the predefined ones? They take so much space in the sidebar and Apple force them to be at the top aswell.
