legitimate email, or phishing?

I received a suspicious email from "Microsoft account team" (account-security-noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com) with the subject line: "Microsoft account security alert."

I use Apple Mail. I have a Gmail account. And I sure don't remember having ever made a Microsoft account.

So I have been ignoring it. I did some research, and have seen both claims that it is legitimate, and claims it is fraudulent. Anybody else receive anything like this?

Thanks in advance!
