Safe to put Quicken files on iCloud?

As I am traveling quite a bit, it would be convenient to keep my quicken file (quicken 2016, Mac) on iCloud, so I can access it both from my Macbook Pro while on the road, and also from my iMac at home, without having to copy / move the file back and forth between drives.

I don't seem, however, to have been able to find any good information about how safe such a move would be, both in regard to hacking, and also in regard to possible file corruption.

I would love to hear from anybody who have some real insight into this.

See if any of the following articles can help with how secure using iCloud is ... or is not:

From Apple:

iCloud security and privacy overview - Apple Support

  • "iCloud secures your information by encrypting it when it's sent over the Internet, storing it in an encrypted format when kept on a server, and using secure tokens for authentication."

From non-Apple sources:

The articles pretty much confirmed what I already believed to be true - that although pretty safer, there is always a risk.

Increasing safety by turning on the two-factor authentication, I think is not a good option for me, again, as I am traveling quite a bit internationally, and therefor often switch my sim card, according to my location, furthermore, I do not have good (in fact, lousy) reception where I live in the US, so verification by text / SMS would not work.

One subject I was rather interested in, however, was not mentioned in neither of the articles, namely, if the strong encryption Apple uses, could possibly corrupt a Quicken file.

Regarding security related to possible hacking, is in the end a matter of trust level and acceptance, but the question of possible file corruption, I do not know enough about to being able to make a decision wether to keep this type of files on Apples iCloud or not.
