Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) phone won't USB connect to iMac Sierra 10.12.5. Any software patch?

I just installed Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (rather, it auto-updated to this OS). Now the phone won't boot up sometimes, and when I try to connect, via USB, to my iMac 27" with OS 10.12.5, the iMac doesn't recognize the phone. The iMac gives a "this computer cannot see your storage device" error. Samsung says that a LOT of Windows 10 users are getting this error, and that MS has a patch for it. Does anybody know if Apple has a work-around to get Sierra to see a 6.0.1 Android device? Thanks.
