how to request an email read receipt

Apple Mail doesn't support read receipts. But if you use Chrome/Gmail on your Macbook you can use email tracking services out there. They're like read receipts but the recipient doesn't get an annoying popup telling them they're being tracked. You can check out services like ContactMonkey. Email tracking for Outlook & Gmail.
