DHCP and NAT mode slower then bridge mode

Hello. I have 4gen Time Capsule.

My Internet provider provides a fiber-optic router Sercomm rv6688 to which I connect my Time Capsule.

I can make two network configurations

1) Sercomm in DHCP and NAT mode and Time Capsule in bridge mode

2) Sercomm in bridge mode and Time Capsule in DHCP and NAT mode

I prefer the second network configuration, because then I have access to the disk from the Internet. But, I do not understand why, in this network configuration the Internet speed is lower than in the first variant. For example: my internet rate is 200 Mb/s and I connect my iMac to Time Capsule over Ethernet. If I download the file in the first configuration, then the speed is 25MB/s (=200Mb/s). If I download the file in the second configuration, then the speed is not more than 16MB/s (=130Mb/s). Almost 2 times less. Same thing with a wifi connection. What you need to change in the Time Capsule settings so that in DHCP and NAT mode the speed does not drop.

Or if I select the first network configuration, which ports I should set in port mapping in Sercomm rv6688 to work setting the Time Capsule and access to the shared disk via the Internet.

P.S. I apologize for my bad english.

Your Gen4 TC should handle WAN to LAN speed of 200Mb/s and I am a bit surprised it doesn't.

Many routers do not have the ability to handle speeds above 100Mbps. Although in IPv4 certainly all the tests I have seen suggests the TC should manage around 300-400Mbps. Your issue is clearly the NAT speed of the TC.. The two setups are near identical except for NAT on the TC is off in the first setup and on in the second.

Is your ISP running IPv6?

Does your computer actually get IPv6 address when using the Sercomm and only IPv4 when using the TC.

Setting up the TC correctly for IPv6 can be a bit tricky. And it might also load the processor more heavily.

I have done a brief survey around net for various experience with IPv4 vs IPv6 for speed.. but answers do not seem to be conclusive.

eg. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2265877/ipv6-faster-ipv4.html

What firmware is the TC running? Certainly worth checking the firmware is up to date.

Otherwise we are forced to answer your other question.

Are you running BTMM for remote access?? If so the exact ports you need to open is not clear. Apple seems to list several ports as part of BTMM and I am not convinced even with all those open it will work. Does the Sercomm offer DMZ mode?? If yes.. then you might find it will work better in router mode (double NAT) but put into the DMZ of the Sercomm.

If you open AFP to the outside world then it is exceedingly simple.. open port 548. This is one of the reasons still using AFP makes good sense. SMB is near to useless because it is so badly compromised, all ISP block it. Unfortunately Apple is now working hard to move everything to SMB and totally get rid of AFP protocol.

The latest TC has a much faster processor so it might work better.. if you are prepared to put money into the solving the issue.
