import to specific folder in photos

I have received photos via email from several different people for a project. Is there a way to import the photos to a specific folder in Photos? The only selection I can find is to simply import to Photos. The problem with that is that I have to search through hundreds of photos to find the ones I need to then combine them into one folder. Thanks!

iMovie (iOS), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Do you want to import photos into specific albums? Folders do not hold photos, only albums, but you can add photos to albums.

You are right, it is not possible to specify a destination album for photos you import, but any photos you import will appear in the Last Import album and at the bottom of the "All Photos" album.

So, right after you imported new photos, select them all in "Last Import", then enter the key combination ⌘N to create a new album from the selection and name the album.

If you have several folders with photos in the Finder, you can automatically import them to Photos as albums using this script: Import Folders of Image Files into Library as Albums

No

1 - folders in Photos only show albums and other folders - not photos - albums show photos

2 - when you import photos they go into the library and then you organize them - it is trivial to import a set of photos and open the last import album, select all and click on the + to create a new album with those photo - then go to the next set of photos and do the same

3 - if you have these separated into finder folders there is a user scrip to import finder folders of photos into albums with matching names - Import Folders of Image Files into Library as Albums - this also is available on Old Toad's web site as a compiled application - http://oldtoad.net/oldtoadstutorials/No.P01.html

Although in most cases for new photos this has no advantage over #2 - it is mostly for people who have not used a database before and used a file based organization and want to move that file based organization to an virtual albums based organization in Photos

4 - For previous imports the All Photos album is sorted by import date/time so it is again trivial to find and previous import - no need to search through hundreds of photos - just open All Photos and scroll to the desired import, select the photos in it and as in #2 click the + and create an album

When you import photos from email, make sure you import them all at once. This puts them all into the Last Import folder. Select All and create a separate Album for each import. You can group related albums in a dedicated folder.

To make it easier to navigate, enable Show Sidebar from the View menu.

Also note that images are organized by Date Added in the All Photos album, so you don't have to search for these photos, anyway.
