How do I restore my iphone from a backup in time machine?

Hi. I would like to restore my iphone from an old backup that's on a time machine drive. How do I access this backup? I can't seem to find the folder using finder. I've tried looking in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ but this is not in my time machine backups. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hi - quit iTunes, open ~/Library/Application Support in the Finder, enter Time Machine, go back to the date you want on the right, select the whole MobileSync folder, and click Restore. Wait. until it's copied back, a Copy bar will appear and it's several GB large so it will take a while. When done, open iTunes, plug in your phone, and here it is. Quickly unclick the automatic backup to computer just to be safe it doesn't overwrite this thing right away again.

I guess this question comes so often it's not even answered any more.
