Batch convert .odt (OpenOffice) to Pages

I have a PC and on it I didn't want to buy word so I got the free open office. Now my computer is slowly dying and getting slower and slower by the day. So I have decided to buy a Mac soon and I was wondering if I could convert the files automatically when I migrate the PC???

Thanks, If you need anymore info just reply (I think you can do that...)]

Thanks (again,)

Recommendation:

  1. Install LibreOffice (fresh) on macOS Sierra. By default, it supports the Open Document (ISO 32600) ODT standard used by OpenOffice, and NeoOffice. Apache has expressed internal doubt that they can continue to support OpenOffice.
  2. On the Mac, only the included TextEdit supports the .ODT word processing document format. There is no available .ODT to Pages document conversion solution on the Mac. One might write an AppleScript batch converter using TextEdit to open .ODT and save as Word DOCX, but the converted format retention and quality is unknown.
  3. The quality (and size) of the saved Word document from LibreOffice, and its compatibility with Word in MS Office is better than any Word document translated on export from Pages. The quality, size, and PDF standards conformance is better in LibreOffice, than is supported in Pages.

NeoOffice is not free (for a functional application), but does present a more aesthetic, Apple-like (Cocoa) user interface not found in OpenOffice or LibreOffice. Like its cousins, it does use Java for certain database, and other specialized operations. You can continue to use .ODT word processing documents without the prospect of document changes through format conversion, and save to Word DOCX as needed.
