Sort songs within a playlist

Hello,

I am IOS 10.3.2 using iphone 7S.

I need to sort songs within a playlist for example in my workout list i want to hear in my own order from slow first to fast later.

Now there is a EDIT button in my playlist which when pressed brings up the option to delete songs or to sequence them ( sort them) with grabber button (button on right side with 3 lines) but when you save or press done, the sequence goes right back to where you started from.

I have tried to sort them in itunes on laptop ( not a good option but ok) hoping that the sorting on laptop (windows) shall get replicated on phone, but unfortunately that does not work either.

Can anyone help.

Switch to the songs view. Sort on the left-most column of numbers. You can now drag songs up or down the list. If your songs have BPM values you could start by sorting on that column, then right-click on the playlist name in the sidebar at the left can click Copy to Play Order, then sort of the left-most column of numbers again for final tweaking.

Here is what I did and what happened. I was able to sort songs in 'songs view' in itunes on laptop and then did copy to play order. However the sort order of the same playlist remained same on iphone.. surprisingly it did not get replicated. i tried to rename playlist and those renaming replicates fine to iphone, which was another surprise.

So what I did was to copy the "sorted" playlist to another playlist on laptop. The new(or copied) playlist came onto iphone with correct sequence. So in a way yes, it did solve what I was trying to do.

But I would imagine there to be an easier way of doing something so fundamental.. so i am not marking that my question is solved but your way was very helpful indeed.

Anyone from Apple support listening.

Assuming that you sync with selected contents then an updated playlist sequence should copy over automatically. Not sure why it didn't for you. Another time you could simply deselect that particular list, sync, then select it and sync once more.
