Mac Mini with 2 drives

Dear forum

i was about to swap my Mac Mini drive for another much larger drive, when i saw this:

iFixit Store Europe | Mac Mini Dual Hard Drive Kit

can my 2012 Mac Mini hold 2 drives? Can i install the new along side the existing OS drive? Would make my life a little easier

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.2)

Yes, according to my experience, 2011 and 2012 (no optical drive) can use this kit/second SATA -> logic board cable, to achieve second drive for the Mini.

You can install the second drive along side your OS drive. If you are planning to open the Mac Mini, I would suggest SSD drive for OS/Boot drive and HDD (larger one) for Data library.

There is another option -- creating a "fusion" drive -- as combining SSD and HDD into "one" large drive as Mac OS will use the SSD to load the OS and software for the speed, and HDD for the data access.

Good luck

Sam
