Computer is MacBook Pro. Mouse going crazy, thought it was hard drive failure. Purchased new
MacBook Pro using same mouse and mouse is still crazy. Same problem on two Macbook Pro's.
Mouse opens what ever it wants. Cursor goes from enormous to normal. Sometimes the longer the mouse/computer is on the crazier it gets. Not sure but I think the mouse is 7 to 8 years old.
Anyone else have this problem?

If cleaning doesn't help, it may be time for a new mouse.
I also have the magic mouse with the round spinning circle and a 3" magnifier rectangle. so annoying and difficult to navigate. My system is also 7 years old and my keyboard half the keys stopped responding. A neighbor told me to remove the batteries from both the mouse and keyboard for 24 hours. I did for three hours and the keyboard is back to normal functions. NOT SO the mouse.. Grrrr
