iPhone 6 charger keeps disconnecting/connecting

Hi,

I have an iPhone 6. The last week it has started disconnecting and then connecting again. Not physically, but it suddenly stops charing, and a second after it's again charging, confirmed with the short vibration. This doesn't happen only when I put the charger in, but also in the middle of the night waking me up with the vibration sounds.

The iPhone was originally bought in October 2014, but after the screen broke in March I was given a new replacement iPhone 6 through my insurance (who cooperates with an Apple Authorised Service provider). I have also bought a new (Apple) lightning charger cable a few months back.

In other words the hardware should be working fine. I have also removed any dust from the iPhone that could affect the charging.

I know there are a similar post on the forum, but being 4 years old I thought new facts and information may have come up.

Thanks for any tips and/or solutions!

Hello,

Let's assume it's a software issue:

Let's assume it's a hardware issue:

  • Faulty Battery (because of the repair?)
  • Lightning Port ruined.

These are just assumptions, don't take em for granted. To make sure you can get your iPhone inspected by an Authorized Apple retailer, and ask them for professional advice.

I hope this somehow helped. Some things may seem sketchy and obvious, but these are the things I think that could possibly be helpful. Or be the issue.

Kind regards,

K

I had this same problem. The Apple Store person had a quick and very correct diagnosis and easy fix; in the iPhone with a lightning port, the port can collect inside "dust bunnies" or similar. The Apple tech knew how to VERY CAREFULLY clean that out. And in my case, sure enough there was dust like debris in there, even though it was relatively new. Probably from keeping the phone in my pocket. After she carefully cleaned it out the charging was fine.
