iMovie 10 - How To Replace a Clip in the Timeline and keep the edits

How can I replace a clip in the timeline and retain/keep the edits I've already done.

I have imported video from my camera, and edited the film in the timeline. Now I realize the video clips have the camera icon on it and its asking me to re-import from the camera - which will not work.

We have backup versions of the video saved at a different quality setting. After I have imported these files - I would like to replace the "missing" video files with these newly imported files, but keep the edits in the video.

I am not sure exactly what you mean by keep the edits, but you can replace the bad clip with the newly imported one. Make sure it is the same duration and drag it form the browser to on top of the original. the original should dim and have a white box around it. When this happens release the mouse button and a popup menu will appear. select the option you want. this will retain the integrity of your timeline but you will lose any effects you have applied to the original clip.
