Ipad not turning on; stuck in charging symbol during ios update

Hello friends,

Yesterday morning, I have to experience a weird behavior of my ipad mini2. Day before yesterday night my ipad mini 2 was at 12% charge and I was trying to install the ios version, the download of the software happened in less than 10 mins and since my ipad was connected to a wall adapter, the system allowed to install the software (even though the charge is 12% but still connected to wall adapter).

I was seeing that the update was taking almost 20 mins with the progress bar showing the loading. I fell asleep and woke up after 4 hours to see that my ipad was showing an apple logo and was bit hot. (Not too hot rather).

After that I removed the cable and it showed me the connected to charger logo!!!

Looked like battery drained, but I connected to the charger and the ipad was showing that the device is charging (black screen with battery icon in middle with red line at the base of the battery icon - the screen before the ipad starts)

After 15 to 20 mins, the apple logo is appearing and AND STUCK AT THAT LEVEL AND MAKING THE DEVICE LITTLE HOT AS IT PROGRESSES and when removed, it is coming back to the connect to charger logo...

I do not want to have it charged for a very long time since not sure if it might affect the battery. I left the device untouched for a day and I even tried performing the above cases today morning and it is still the same. 😟

I guess it should not be a hardware issue since, charging an ipad for 4 hours with device stuck at apple logo continuously (due to update interruption) should not affect the battery or charging IC for such a branded product like apple.

I cannot do DFU/Restore or do anything now since if I connect the device to macbook, it is showing the charging symbol in the ipad (black screen with battery icon in middle with red line at the base of the battery icon) and itunes and the mac is notdetecting the device.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME TO GET BACK MY IPAD TO WORKING CONDITION PLEASE? 😢

I have a mini that has been experiencing the same problem for over a year - if I over-charge it (leave it on a charger after it is at 100% charge) that "dead battery" image appears and the mini will not start/open. Occasionally, the mini will re-start if I open iTunes on my iMac and plug the mini into a usb cable running back of the iMac. And it will sometimes re-start if I just keep on attempting a force re-start. I've even taken the mini to the Genius bar at my local Apple store, but they weren't able to figure anything out.

I read one chain from April that discussed this problem and one response was a link to a YouTube video showing a guy using a hair dryer to warm the back of his iPhone (which was having the same problem). There were also a couple of suggestions from an Apple tech (that didn't really work - after which the tech dropped off the conversation and had nothing more to contribute).

Seems to me that this is a hardware issue that Apple has FAILED to resolve or come up with a fix for. Love my mini, but I'm sure not happy that this problem keeps occurring. Wish I had something more constructive to tell you.

Hi. First, be sure you have iTunes 12.6, required for iOS 10.3. You should be able to enter recovery mode as described in this link: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Finally, please review your previous post, Ipad not turning on; stuck in charging symbol during ios 11 update. You really need to get support from the beta community, since your problem is with the beta installation. You may need to visit an Apple store for assistance.
