Pop up virus warning

I'm thinking this is a scam. It only pops up when I visit links through FB. Is this a scam?

A pop up keeps coming up saying

"Please download-app-8t0-gdn"

"This Apple iPhone is corrupted with a virus and the battery has been damaged. System has detected (4) virus causing serious damage to your battery and must be removed immediately and fixed"

"Continue with instructions to fix phone."

"Do not close window."

"**Exit at your own risk**"

Complete scam.

Double-click the Home key and swipe up on the Safari thumbnail to completely close Safari

Go to Settings>Safari, and scroll down until you come to Clear History and Website Data, and tap on that to clear all your history and website cookies

Don't go to the website that created this mess to start with again

You can also report it to Apple by following the Report Phishing Attempts in this support article: Identify and report phishing emails and other suspicious messages - Apple Support

Best of luck,
