NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M compatible with 4k?

Hi guys,

I have a mid 2012 MacBook pro 15'

- Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

- Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650m 1024mb and Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.

- Memory: 16 Gb 1600 MHz DDR3

I want to buy a 4K monitor. But need to know if my macbook will be compatible with the 4k resolution?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), null

Yes, with limitations. You can get 4k (3840 x 2160) but only at 30 Hz. I do this now using a cheap Panasonic 4k TV, and a Belkin mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. 30 Hz looks awful for anything that moves, like movies. Fine for me, looks great for regular old desktop work. I usually use the scaled setting that says 'looks like 1920 x 1080') - that's pixel-perfect Hi DPI 3840 x 2160.
