Joining a P2P network in OSX

Hey all,

We just acquired a small action camera (Akaso EK7000) which only has instructions for connecting wirelessly to iOS. For MBPs there's a tiny USB cable and very fragile physical socket.

I'm much more of a macOS user than I am an iOS user, so I was wondering about connecting the camera to a MBP via wireless. Online videos for connecting similar cameras to Windows systems seem to show a peer 2 peer network being setup, and from there you can connect to the camera's internal webserver and download video.

While our iPad pro has no problem connecting directly to the camera's wireless network, when I try to connect to the same network with our 2015 MBP, the connection never completes at the Mac end. I wonder if there's something I'm missing around connecting to a Peer network from my MBP?

Thanks for ideas!
