2015 MacBook Pro 16gb Ram vs. 2016 MacBook Pro 8GB Ram

Hi Everyone,

Hoping I could get some help on a decision I have to make. I am upgrading my computer and can either get a 13" 2015 Retina MacBook Pro (2.9ghz i5) with 16gb ram and 128gb SSD or a 13" 2016 non-touchbar MacBook Pro with 8gb Ram and 256gb SSD.

Which of the two machines is a better value? I feel like the 2016 MacBook Pro would be a better value, but just trying to determine if the 16gb ram is worth it enough to stay with the 2015 model.

Would love your thoughts! Thanks Everyone

128 GB RAM is not enough storage. You will be needing an external drive. The two alternatives you present are not good alternatives. You need at least 256GB storage, 512GB would be better. 16GB RAM would be great but you might get by with 8GB if you are not doing resource intensives things with your computer. I think in today's environment of Sierra and resource intensive apps 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is the minimum configuration needed.
