Malwarebytes now has active protection. Currently when a user downloads MB, they're given a thirty day trial of the feature. I don't know if it's easily noticeable to a user so the regular helpers here might get some questions.

Is Malwarebytes independent of AntiVirus Sentinel Pro? I keep seeing completely opposite notions of whether AntiVirus Sentinel Pro is legit or scam. I have both this programs. I just uninstalled Avira antivirus. I'm trying to get the junk off my computer and maybe install legit programs for protection.
My 15" MacBook Pro crashes at least several times a week now if not daily. I think I should also run a maintenance tool, but I'm afraid to download any of those either. You never know who online is telling the truth.
Would greatly appreciate any help.
Malwarebytes has no relationship with AntiVirus Sentinel Pro. In fact, the only software I know of with the name AntiVirus Sentinel Pro was a scam app that used to be in the Mac App Store, but which has been removed.
I'm having the same problem. I have uninstalled the Malwarebytes application and have drug everything I could find to the trash, and emptied the trash, but still the icon is in the dock toolbar and won't come off, and I keep getting a message saying I need to update the program every time I boot up my computer. How can I get rid of it?
Hello mama4paradiddle,
MalwareBytes now includes a kernel extension. Like many such apps, it is impossible to delete it by dragging it to the trash. Reinstall MalwareBytes. I believe there is a menu option to perform a proper uninstall.
While it's a very useful (and trustworthy) product, you don't have to keep in on your computer. You can always download it again when you need it.
No need to delete it. It only scans on demand, so it's not using any resources wile inactive.
I want to delete it, but just trashing it left the icon on the status bar. How do I get rid of it ? Download it again and uninstall it ?
Status bar? The Dock you mean? Just click and drag the icon away from it.
If you installed the new Malwarebytes 3 for Mac, you need to run the uninstaller found on the disk image file with the installer.
