Keep getting website come up claiming to be apple support liinked to an adware that caused a website apple.support to pop up automatically with a chat window telling me to call.

I keep getting a website that comes up claiming to be apple support linked to an adware that caused a website apple.support to pop up automatically with a chat window telling me to call 1-800-547-0574. I don't find that number listed on Apple's website so I have not called. I have emptied cookies, cleared history and cache. What else can I do?

OS10.10.5

Safari 10.1.1

MacBook Pro 13"

Turn off your Mac and start it in Safe mode - press the Shift key at the same time that you press on the power button.

Also, you can run Malwarebytes to see if it can find the culprit: http://www.thesafemac.com/mmg/ (press the Download for Free button in the box to the right). This is a safe product that has been developed by one of our Community members. Also, the link is to a great resource for Mac problems in general.
