If you have had your iPad Air for more than 60 days, you are no longer eligible to pay to extend your AppleCare for an additional year.

Contact Apple direct at 1-800-MYAPPLE go to your local Apple Store to find out if your iPad Air is still eligible for AppleCare+ for iPad or not.

Unfortunately, Applecare cannot be renewed. It can only be purchased once. If you have the original standard warranty for iPad, you can purchase the Applecare as mentioned.
