How can I over-provision my SSD on macOS?
I write a lot of data to my MacBook, so for the longevity of the device, I wanted to know how I could over-provision the SSD. Thanks!
MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Make a partition smaller than the actual drive size.
What file format do I choose? Do I unmount the drive? Thanks.
For the Partition you use MacOS Extended (journaled) for the extra space, none.
SSDs do automatic wear leveling to prevent some areas of the drive from being overused and others virtually unused. There's no need for you to do anything.
