Outgoing Mail Server flips to None

I recently added a new email address which uses the same Outgoing Mail Server that previous existing email addresses use. These email addresses can send outgoing fine. The new email address will not send from Outbox. The message sits in the Outbox. If I look at the Outgoing Mail Server the account settings say None. If I try to edit the server list it reverts to None automatically in a few seconds. Has anyone seen this before and can hep me troubleshoot? I've already deleted the email account and added several times but to no avail.

Thank you.

Hello dr fever,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I see that you recently added a new email address, but the new email address will not send mail and it just sits in the Outbox. You've noticed in the Mail settings that the Outgoing Mail Server changes to none instead of using the same Outgoing Mail Server as another email address. I know it's important to make sure that you have all of your email addresses set up and they are working fine, so I'm happy to help assist you with this.

First, I suggest using the Mail Connection Doctor to diagnose this issue and make sure that this is an issue with the Outgoing Mail Server settings.. Open Mail > Window > Connection Doctor.

If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac

If you still have an issue after that, I suggest testing in safe mode and another user account to see if you get the same result.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers.
