No optical sound output on new imacs?

I can't see any information about optical audio output on the new line of imacs from mid 2017?

Have Apple seriously dropped this? Why on Earth would they do such a thing? Then I will only be able to get stereo sound from it and no surround. Nor will I be able to use the long cable from the computer to my audio system anylonger with the same quality.. This is not good at all.. Really not. A big step backwards in my opinion!

And I just ordered a new imac since my old one was is over 6 years old... Now I am thinking about cancelling the order.

And as a side note, I realise it will be pretty expensive to add all these dongles to compensate for the lack of Firewire800 and Thunderbolt 2... 😟
